We are seeking a scientist who will provide experienced leadership in managing the development and implementation of biochemical and biophysical assays, including crystallography for hit screening and lead optimization and will collaborate cross-functionally to support drug discovery efforts across the portfolio. We are searching for enthusiastic, innovative, and highly motivated individuals with a passion for pursuing scientific research aimed at bringing novel medicines to patients. Successful candidates should be scientifically motivated self-starters, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and capable of working independently in conducting and critically analyzing screening, binding, and enzyme activity experimental data.
Key Responsibilities: Establish and manage collaborations with external partners performing assay development and validation, library screening, hit validation, biophysical characterization, and crystallography of lead compounds across projects.Design protein constructs and oversee protein production and purification to support biochemical, biophysical assays as well as crystallization.Support protein crystallography and structure determination, provide detailed structure analysis in regular team updates and facilitate structure-guided drug design efforts.Analyze, document and report data clearly and concisely to cross-functional teams and help guide compound optimization in close collaboration with the chemistry group.Participate in many aspects across the company, including building out the capabilities, contributing intellectually to projects, and to generating data in a fast and efficient manner of high quality.Stay abreast of the latest scientific understanding in project specific biology from target validation to clinical data.Proactively evaluate new technologies and identify, evaluate, and manage external vendors or assay vendors and studies. Requirements & Experience : Ph.D. in a relevant subject and experience in the development and execution of biophysical assays and screening.Experience in developing, running, and interpreting biophysical characterization of proteins and small molecules is essential.Hands on experience with biophysical techniques such as SPR, ITC, DSF, NMR and other biophysical techniques is required. Experience with mass spectrometry, proteomics, and protein crystallography preferred.Demonstrated competency in protein construct design and expression and purification strategies using bacterial, insect, and mammalian hosts.Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems in biochemistry and biophysics.Strong knowledge of the drug discovery process, with industry experience in implementing hit identification strategies preferred. Extensive knowledge of protein structure and function as it relates to biophysical implications.Ability to independently plan, execute, and analyze complex experiments.Strong presentation and communication skills, both oral and written.Motivated, curious, and team-oriented, with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
