The Junior Data Scientist Internship is an exciting opportunity for students eager to gain practical experience in data science and analytics while receiving outstanding mentorship during their studies. As a Junior Data Scientist, you will join an Amazon team and contribute to meaningful projects that have a direct impact on our customers. You will be paired with a dedicated Amazon mentor who will guide you through skill development, career advice, project collaboration, and more! This role is part of the Junior Developer Program, which offers a unique internship experience in several ways:
- Employment is available year-round, allowing for part-time (16 hrs/week) work while you are in school and full-time (40 hrs/week) during the summer. We offer flexible scheduling that accommodates your academic calendar.
- You will receive exceptional mentoring from full-time data scientists, applied scientists, and business intelligence engineers dedicated to your success.
- Junior Data Scientists will take on responsibilities that prepare them for real-world data science and analytics careers after graduation.
Interns in the Junior Developer Program often highlight the excellent learning environment fostered by high-performing teams, supportive mentoring from experienced professionals, and the challenge of making significant contributions to scientific and software projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create data pipelines, analyze large datasets, and utilize machine learning and advanced analytics techniques while working with reporting and analytic tools such as SQL and Excel to derive meaningful insights.
- Analyze vast amounts of data to identify and address real-world problems and develop metrics and business cases that drive performance in this program.
- Adopt a customer-focused approach to generate insights and recommend actions that enhance customer experience and conversion rates.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Master’s program in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
- Expected graduation date in June 2027 or later.
- Availability to work year-round: part-time during the academic year and full-time in the summer.
- This position requires working in our corporate office in Austin, TX.
- Must reside within a commutable distance to Austin, TX.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior technical internship experience.
- Ability to communicate technical challenges and solutions effectively.
- Proficiency in addressing ambiguous or undefined problems with abstract thinking.

The compensation for this position ranges from $16.83/hr in our lowest geographic market to $75.63/hr in our highest. Pay is influenced by several factors including market location, job-related skills, and experience.
