Background When communities support masculine-identified youth in accessing and living from their wholeness, our communities are stronger. Boys to Men Tucson (BTMT), Emerge Center Against Domestic Violence, Goodwill Youth Program, Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC), and the Women s Foundation of Southern Arizona (WFSA) have collaboratively launched a Healthy Intergenerational Masculinity (HIM) Initiative which aims to ensure that all boys and masculine-identified youth in Tucson have access, both geographically and logistically, to mentors, programs, and communities that promote more fluid and healthy forms of masculinity. This collective impact initiative focuses on opportunity youth, especially black and brown boys. The HIM Initiative also seeks to reverse the destructive effects of toxic masculinity by transforming the policies and systems that harm these boys. Position Summary: To lead this important work, this Healthy Intergenerational Masculinity Initiative is seeking a passionate Initiative Director.
The Director will be a dynamic leader who can advance and facilitate the collective success of this regional effort, and serve as the collaboration organizer. More specifically, the Director will also drive HIM Initiative s internal and external functions, including strategy, communications, community engagement, and data functions. The Project Director will coordinate staff and systems and be accountable for nurturing the efficiency and effectiveness of both, providing high-level strategic thinking and facilitation of the HIM Initiative effort. Key responsibilities include: Project Oversight Overseeing HIM Initiative grant reporting to funders as required Providing support and guidance to partner organizations in aligning resources to HIM Initiative a (e.g., supporting identification of grant opportunities that align to HIM Initiative goals) Tracking all HIM Initiative funding, including funds from partner organizations and key stakeholders Developing relationships with potential funders and participating in relevant networks Ensuring all partners are aware of targets and indicators; and monitoring and
on challenges and achievements within agreed formats and timelines Creating or managing creation of annual summary reports of HIM Initiative progress for Steering Committee and external audiences Overseeing work of data consultant Stakeholder Facilitation & Support Providing support to workgroups and their chairs to facilitate meetings, assisting in preparation of meeting materials, etc. Providing regular reports on progress against goals and indicators Acting as the facilitator to help resolve disputes or disagreements in direction among workgroups Cultivate excellent working relationships with senior education and community leaders involved in this initiative in a way that can inspire collective action without formal authority Help identify and recruit additional cross-sector stakeholders to participate in the HIM Initiative work Leadership & Management Developing and implementing HIM Initiative s guiding values across all partnerships Establishing, facilitating, and executing effective and open communication with partner organizations Developing systems to share organizational decisions with the HIM Initiative partner organizations Maintaining understanding of current implementation challenges and developing comprehensive solutions to address them Providing direction and support to partner organizations in aligning their work to the common agenda (e.g., identifying opportunities for program work to support specific goals) Coordinating research and other activities with initiative partners to minimize redundancies and to align strategies and actions, including conducting individual outreach and education as needed Updating outreach strategy as new needs emerge Coordinating with other projects and coalitions in the same field to maintain a full understanding of the current landscape of local and regional activities, and integrating their work into Steering Committee and workgroup processes Building and maintaining relationships with community partners Developing communications materials as HIM Initiative evolves, potentially including summary documents, social media posts, press releases, brochures, FAQs, and other items YourMembership.
