Dog Walker / Pet Sitter Part Time

The Job Openings:

• Dog Walker: Most visits occur Mon-Fri between 10:30 am and 3 pm and are anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 hour long with the average being 30 minutes.
• Pet Sitter: Visits typically occur between Mon-Sun with visits most commonly occurring during 7-10am, 1-3pm and 7-9pm. Dogs typically have 3-4 visits/day and cats only visits 1-2 visits/day.
  • Open Flexibility: Available anytime Monday through Sunday between 7am and 10:30pm. This position offers the opportunity to maximize income earnings!
  • Weekday Evenings and Weekends: Weekday evenings between 4-10:30pm (most visits are between 7-9pm) and between 7am and 10:30pm on weekends.
  • Overnight Pet Care: Starting at 9pm to 7am the next day. An excellent way to supplement your income.

We prefer candidates living within 5-6 miles of the following areas:

• NW Raleigh: Leesville and Strickland Roads, 27613
• NW Raleigh: Hilburn and Glenwood Avenue 27612
• N/NW Raleigh: Sawmill and Creedmoor Roads, 27613
• North Raleigh: Strickland and Creedmoor Roads, 27613
• Raleigh: Six Forks near Durant, 27615
• Five Points Raleigh: Anderson and Glenwood Avenue, 27608

The Compensation:

$500 – $2000 / month

(*depending on pet sitter/dog walker availability)

• Competitive compensation is based on visits successfully completed
• Milestone completion compensation increases
• Additional compensation for visits successfully completed during holidays, early evening (7-9pm and late evening (9-10:30pm)
• Additional compensation for extra pets beyond 2 per visit and some medication administration
• 100% client gratuity
• Sign-on bonus ($200-$300 depending on job position and availability) paid out based on the number of visits successfully performed
• Client and candidate referral bonuses
• Company provided bonuses at its discretion

The Responsibilities:

• Appropriate handling of dogs, insuring their safety at all times.
• Feed, medicate, walk, play with and care for as instructed by the client. Proper accident and pet waste pick up and disposal.
• Appropriate handling of cats, insuring their safety at all times. Includes playing with them, brushing, scooping litter, feeding, and providing medication as required and instructed by client.
• Other animal care as needed (birds, small mammals, and reptiles), following client instructions.
• For travel clients, rotating lights and blinds, bringing in mail and packages, watering plants, trash day service, light tidying of high traffic areas, checking appliances and water heaters, and any additional house sitting requests made by the client.
• Effective, professional communication with the client and company. We prefer staff to conduct new client consultations which will require the ability to ask animal care questions and take notes. This is not a sales position but you may be the first person a new client speaks with in person.
• Contribute to the team effort by working as a team player
• Practice time management to ensure on-time arrivals for all assigned visits

The Ideal Candidate:

• Reliable, honest, patient, and enthusiastic pet lover, with a strong work ethic and genuine love and concern for animal well-being. Detail-oriented with ability to follow client instructions. Have a natural drive to exceed expectations and provide first-class service.
• Experience with dogs and cats, whether volunteer, professional, or with personal pets with a positive attitude and desire to learn.

The Requirements:

• You have consistent availability that will remain constant week to week.
• The majority of tasks assigned will require you to walk or stand on your feet for several hours per day, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, walk up and down stairs; handle extra small and/or large dogs, and be able to lift up to 50lbs.
• Comfortable walking up to three dogs at the same time.
• Capable of working independently and unsupervised in an environment with traffic, the public, and possibly barking and jumping dogs.
• You have the patience and empathy to work with puppies and other animals with special needs and requirements (medical and behavioral concerns)
• You may be exposed to solvents, disinfectants, sanitation chemicals, animal dander, saliva, urine, feces, animal teeth, and claws that may contact hands, skin, and clothing
• You have previous customer service experience and are capable of communicating with clients, staff, and vendors in both written and spoken English
• You must be 18 years or older and legally allowed to work in the US
• You must own and be able to operate your own reliable, insured vehicle for the purposes of quickly traveling between client residences
• You must own a smartphone (iOS or Android) with the ability to run our scheduling software (using data and GPS as needed). A computer and printer can be helpful for new client consultations but it is not critical.
