Summary The incumbent has the responsibility for coordinating Geriatric Primary Care, Geriatric Specialty Care, Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) at the main facility and community based outpatient clinics (CBOC), serving approximately 43,000 veterans at the main facility and Scott, Fort Knox, Grayson ,and New Albany CBOC HealthCare Centers. Responsibilities Duties Include, but may not be limited to the following: Is keenly aware of public relation functions and information for all matters involving the Geriatric Clinic. Attends Service Organization meetings to provide information regarding the programs available to Veterans. Promotes and ensures all customer service relationships are handled in a positive manner. Assists in overseeing a variety of activities such as credentialing of health care providers and registration of residents to ensure providers are licensed, privileged and have appropriate computer access according to regulatory requirements; reviews medical records containing medical/clinical evaluations and services to ensure proper recording of incidents of care; inspects facilities and supplies to ascertain proper ratio of health care providers to patients. Prepares comprehensive reports for submission to appropriate officials. Attends meetings and conferences as a participant in discussions regarding findings. Performs trend analysis and utilization analysis and directs program development, adjustment, or implementation based on analysis. Performs problem analysis on utilization reports and cost trend data, and identifies strategies to improve provider access, reduce administrative workload for beneficiaries, and improve the cost effectiveness of the assigned sections. Combining both professional, economic principles and automation capabilities, performs operational and statistical analysis. Maintains confidentiality of patient and provider information and ensures protection of patient and provider privacy. Adheres to all HIPAA regulations. Makes use of all available information to present ideas and concepts in a clear, concise manner. Plans, organizes, and conducts briefings and meetings pertaining to changes to existing programs, program development, implementation and progress. Provides data analysis of program issues and trends and makes recommendation based on the analysis. Attends meetings as a representative of the service when necessary. The incumbent must have the skills to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to elicit cooperation from individuals and groups from a wide variety of education, professional, social levels and from various cultural backgrounds. Federal manuals, standards, local policies and procedures provide broad guidance. While some of the guidelines are specific, many are not, and the incumbent is expected to use independent judgment in pursuing necessary courses of action to achieve desired results .Incumbent exercises independent judgment and interpretation when applying and adapting guidelines such as VHA regulations or policies to specific problems for which the guidelines are not clearly applicable. Translates and incorporates professional standards of practice, mission statements and policies related to health care administration into operational management. The incumbent resolves problems and completes managed care related projects using a variety of techniques to collect, analyze and monitor data in order to evaluate the utilization and delivery of managed care services. Serves as a specialist in analyzing, evaluating and advising on health care delivery systems. Advises and makes recommendations to management on managed care activities in order to improve VA’s ability to accomplish its mission in a more efficient and effective manner.
