Position Summary: The University ofColorado, College of Nursing has an opening for an Associate Dean for AcademicPrograms. This administrative facultyappointment serves as the senior administrator overseeing the College s baccalaureate,master s, and DNP Programs. TheAssociate Dean is responsible for ensuring that academic program activities areconducted in an efficient and ethical manner, consistent with the rules andregulations of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. The Associate Dean for AcademicPrograms reports directly to the Dean of the College of Nursing and workscollaboratively with other members of the Dean s Council, faculty and staff. Responsibilities of the Position Strategicand Administrative Leadership Articulates a compelling, inclusive vision foracademic programs within the CU College of Nursing. Provides strategicleadership in developing and refining the College s academic excellence. Support a strong leadership team of Assistant Deans for baccalaureate, master’s and DNP programs through regular meetings and developmental opportunities. Develops and applies measures of educational qualityand quality improvement related to academic programs. Sets standards for innovative, effective, andefficient curricula and academic programming suited to tomorrow s learner. Assures academic program compliance withprofessional accreditation and regulatory bodies in collaboration with theDirector of Evaluation and Accreditation. Leads and manages systems and policies that supportacademic program planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuousimprovement. Collaborates with inter-professional colleagues forthe advancement of the University s and College s strategic plan for education. Provides input as appropriate to the Sr. AssociateDean for Faculty and Students and Division Heads on faculty evaluations. Leads and manages systems that support academicreporting to AACN/CCNE, Colorado State Board of Nursing, the University, andother accrediting, certifying, and approval bodies. Contribute to the annual budget process and manage daily operations to remain within budgetary constraints. In collaboration with the Dean and the AssistantDean of Student Affairs and Diversity, manages student complaints or grievancesthrough appropriate channels. Works collaboratively with the Sr. Associate Deanfor Faculty and Students, and the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs andDiversity in activities related to student recruitment, admissions, andimplementation of student programs and policies. Serves as liaison and facilitates the College srepresentation of campus-wide committees, initiatives, and task forces relatedto academic programs. Coordinates with the Instructional Design Team, theCU Online personnel and Academic Program staff to insure adequate support,training, and evaluation for faculty and students engaged in online learning inthe college s academic programs. Reviews relevant campus, federal, and state fiscalpolicies and procedures related to academic programs. Provides leadership and collaboration indevelopment of College of Nursing policies and procedures related to academicprograms. Establishes and manages positive relationships witha variety of internal and external stakeholders and appropriately representsthe College of Nursing. Contributeto the overall success of the College and University through activeparticipation on the Dean s Council and the strategic planning process. Provideconsistent leadership to support the College s mission, vision, and strategicplan. Support the Dean and the Sr. Associate Dean of Facultyand Students to ensure Division Heads and faculty are trained on thedevelopment and deployment of degree plans including the designation of appropriatefaculty workloads. Creates a system of accountability throughdefinition and reporting of quality metrics and productivity standards relatedto academic programs. Ensure the timely resolution of escalations andappeals related to academic programs, while maintaining the best interests ofthe common stakeholders within the University policy guidelines. Coordinate with Division Heads, Associate Dean ofFinance and Director of Human Resources on contract faculty personnel planningand budgeting. Supportthe College s Diversity and Inclusion efforts. Qualifications MinimumQualifications: Abachelor s degree in nursing from an accredited institution. Amaster s degree in nursing from an accredited institution. Anearned doctorate in nursing or a closely related field from an accreditedinstitution. Adistinguished record of academic scholarship. Experiencein teaching and curriculum development, preferably at all three levels ofnursing education. Evidenceof effective inter-professional educational collaboration. Qualificationscommensurate with appointment as Associate or Full Professor, tenure eligible. Eligiblefor licensure as an RN in the state of Colorado. Leadershipexperience in academic programs; ideally obtained through 5 years ofprogressive leadership experience. PreferredQualifications: Anexemplary record of academic outreach/scholarship. Demonstratedcollaborative leadership experience managing academic programs. Experiencein strategic planning, program development and evaluation, international/globaland multicultural activities. Experienceworking on an academic medical campus.
